PM Training for ICT Department of Manufacturer

In the past, main role of ICT department was to work as “system expert”, but nowadays it is expected in many cases for people in ICT department to work as leader for business innovation. That is the reason they really need to obtain fundamental business skills. PM Global will offer educational programs which cover basic skills truly necessary to drive projects.

One ICT department of manufacturer had no confidence in project management and decided to carry out project management training as solution. PM Global immediately began to develop the curriculum. Series of lessons, however, could not generate results and we gradually found out something was missing besides knowledge and experiences of project management. What kind of training would be appropriate? What would be possible deliverables within a limited time? – We began to work with the corporate client for solution.

What was absolutely missing was basic business skill. We noted a point that recent trend of shifting away from working in organization or human resource outflow impeded knowledge transfer although knowledge was shared by senior staff members during on-the-job training or at dinner after work. People in ICT department also felt that they were not good at taking such trainings as ICT department was unique and they had spent most of the time there. We analyzed the situation and developed new training items. We began thorough and practical educational programs on skill and know-how covering problem finding/solving ability, communication skill, negotiation skill and conference facilitation skill etc.

Comprehensive review of training contents resulted into invigoration of workplace and heightening motivation. Consequently, it had positive impact on project management.
