Why Immersive Training Enables You to Truly Step Into Someone Else's Shoes

To truly understand another person, you must first become them.
In this article, we explore how our Immersive Training program allows participants to deeply embody another individual’s personality.

Characters Built with Precision

In Immersive Training, participants are given rich, detailed character profiles—including not only their job title and social background, but also personality traits, habits, and behavioral tendencies. The more concrete the character, the easier it becomes for participants to imagine themselves in the role, including how that person thinks, reacts, and behaves.

Examples might include:

  • A hardline politician who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals

  • A manipulative sales manager who flatters their boss but makes unreasonable demands of their team

  • An entrepreneur convinced they’re the smartest person on the planet

We also provide added depth through information about the character’s family situation, upbringing, personal interests, skills, and inner struggles—helping participants build a more vivid mental image. If it helps, participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from real people or public figures who resemble the role.

Act Based on Who They Are

Once the character is clearly envisioned, participants begin acting as that person. Physical movement is key—by imagining how the character thinks and expressing that through action, participants move closer to truly becoming them.

There are no scripts. What you say—and how you say it—is entirely up to you. Does your character speak with bold gestures? Or in a quiet, hesitant voice? Your tone, rhythm, and mannerisms should align with the character’s persona.

Even how you listen matters. While listening is often considered passive, the way you listen sends subtle but powerful messages. Does your character lean in with curiosity, or lean back with skepticism? Do they interrupt, dismiss others, or dominate the conversation? These cues help define how your character is perceived—both by others and by yourself.

All of this nuance becomes possible because the character is well-developed. The more vividly you imagine and inhabit the character, the closer you come to truly “becoming” them. That closeness is the first step toward immersing yourself in another personality.
